DIVISIONAL MANAGER, ENGINEERING – Gauteng
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Divisional Manager: Engineering is to manage the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Division by maintaining and improving existing systems and motivating and managing personnel within the parameters of these systems.
In addition, the Divisional Manager needs to ensure the implementation of Engineering facilities, policies, systems and procedures in all regional and subsidiary organisations in accordance with the Brolaz Projects standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing all personnel in the Engineering Division in accordance with the company’s policies, systems and procedures, in such a way as to ensure successful engineering of all projects with respect to schedule, quality and budget undertaken by the company.
Human resources management of the Project Management Division, employing suitably qualified staff, providing mentorship and guidance, and ensuring all staff is continuously updated with developments in their respective areas of expertise.
Driving continuous improvement of engineering methodologies, policies, systems and procedures to efficiently deliver engineering solutions of the highest quality and purpose.
Ongoing customer interface to obtain technical information for the development of solutions and providing feedback on such solutions, as well as occasional expert input for marketing purposes.
Accurate and timely departmental and interdepartmental reporting.
Facilitating the efficient interface between Project Engineers and engineering contractors, including clear and structured statements of work; analytical and technical evaluation of contractors’ solutions, and, if appropriate, challenging the proposed solutions within the scope of the project.
Ensuring that solutions are competitive, practical and cost effective to install as well as being aesthetically correct.
Driving continuous development of new solutions and products in the industry, ensuring developments are cost effective, easy to implement, simple and practical to operate, requiring little effort or maintenance, technically simple, requiring minimal field attention in operation, and world class.
KEY PERFORMANCE FACTORS
Execution of all project engineering deliverables within the agreed time and quality.
Management and control of engineering contractors’ obligations.
Management and mentorship of personnel within the Division.
Delivery of sound and cost effective technology solutions.
Project reporting.
AUTHORITY
This position carries the full authority as assigned by the Divisional Director.
EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIREMENT
Technical degree of diploma (Electrical/Structural/Civil/Mechanical).
In depth knowledge and understanding of the telecommunication and/or construction industry.
Proficient in MS Office package, as well as standard project management software.
Basic skills requirements include working knowledge of management principles, systemising, organising, guiding, and goal setting.
Logically-thinking, innovative, numerate, literate, self-motivated, have good administrative and organisational skills, as well as co-ordinating, detailing, planning and human relations capabilities.
The Divisional Manager needs to be a leader, planner, analyser, a good organiser and team-orientated.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
At least 10 years engineering experience and a proven track record of
