The primary purpose of this job is to plan, lead, organise and advise on all aspects associated with providing a process engineering service relating to water and wastewater treatment in Umgeni Water. Key functions will include process and engineering design, plant trials, plant commissioning, process audits, non-conformance investigation, process evaluation, process troubleshooting, undertaking research, developing and providing technical training and the provision of a process consulting service to Umgeni Water clients.

Functional Competencies required include:

Extensive knowledge of water and wastewater unit processes.
Detailed knowledge of the underlying chemistry, biology, and microbiology in water, wastewater and industrial effluent treatment.
Process design
Research proposal development.
Computer literacy
Knowledge and application of relevant local and national legislation and standards.
Facilitation of technical training in the water and waste water industry
Risk Assessment
Project management.
